Connoting Plato’s
Allegory of the Cave, the groundhog navigates between the subterranean
and above-ground realms, maintaining status as both enlightened and
deluded. Here the dichotomous figure has descended to the underworld
to feast upon a stack of delicious cheesecakes; he revels in his base
physical indulgences.
